SMT Manufacturer

SMT Meaning:

The technique known as Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is used to adhere electrical components directly to a PCB’s surface. The stenciling of solder paste is the first phase in this multi-step procedure. Comparable to screen printing a t-shirt, Qualitel prints the paste with solder, and then utilizes pick-and-place equipment to attach the pieces to the board. After the components are installed on the PCB boards, the solder is melted in a reflow oven. Multiple inspection points are included into the SMT process to guarantee the greatest level of quality throughout the manufacturing process.

SMT manufacturing service

The PCB can mount electrical components using surface-mount technology. The PCB is printed using solder paste, various SMD components are installed, and the PCB and electronic components are then assembled using a hot air reflow process. a procedure that is totally automatable.

Benifits of SMT manufacturing

Benifits of SMT manufacturing:

  1. Enhance automation and production efficient
  2. Maximum adaptability in PCB construction
  3. Increased performance and dependability
  4. Reduced need for manual component placement intervention
  5. Virtually all hole drilling operations are stopped
  6. Lighter and smaller boards
  7. Ability to coexist alongside through-hole components, even on the same board, with ease of assembly and the use of both sides of the board without the hole constraints associated with through-hole construction.
  8. More SMD components in the same amount of space or the same number of components in a significantly smaller footprint is referred to as increased density.

Process of SMT:

Step 1. solder paste printing

The board material has solder pads without holes that are covered with solder paste using a technique akin to screen printing. To guarantee that material is only put where it is required, placement is controlled using a precise stencil template for the individual PCB being manufactured.

Step 2. placing components

The needed SMDs and other components are then accurately positioned on the boards by automated component choosing and placement equipment. They are frequently fed on reels or tapes to the machinery. Components like integrated circuits are provided in medium that is static-free.

Step 3. solified component on board

As the solder pads continue to heat during subsequent soldering processes, the added solder paste melts and bonds the components to the board.

The component placement and soldering procedures are repeated for the reverse side of the printed circuit board when both sides are being used for components.

After the automated soldering, any heat-sensitive PCB components may be inserted manually or using procedures that won’t harm the component.

Step 4. Cleaning the PCB Board

As a result of their extremely tight positioning tolerance, boards are subsequently “washed” to eliminate excess flux or solder residues that could result in component shorting.

Step 5. Inspection

Inspections seek for components that are missing, are out of alignment, or have soldering faults that could cause difficulties. These inspections can be automated with the right technology. Boards that have been examined then undergo any necessary circuit and functionality testing.
